A Nun’s Blog

August 21st, 2006

Check out “A Nun’s Life,” a new blog run by my friend and colleague Sister Julie Vieira, IHM. If you’re curious about how nuns live today, Julie is eager to tell you. She quotes Mother Justina Reilly, a nineteenth-century IHM: “Do not think I am sitting here to pass the time away telling you that religious life is poetry. It is the roughest kind of prose.”

She also notices stereotypes about nuns and keeps track of nuns in the media. Plus — she’s a splendid writer.

I was wondering if you get this quickly enough. I have a few questions. Im doing a research paper on Nun’s and how they are changing over time. I wanted to use you a a resourse. Here are a few questions. What activities do you do as a nun, and or when your not. (I haven’t had time to read all your pages. I work to much :() What age did you make this big commitment. What does your family think of this, and your friends before it happened. Anything. If you have a little info of what other nun’s do. Do you live in a nunnery? Im very interested in your life. I need this as sson as possible, if your not busy. Thank you so much.
